The most beautiful walk of all brings you from Nerano, the area behind Marina del Cantone, to Leranto Bay, a gem set in the final piece of the Amalfi coast and also another protected area. The path goes beyond the Mediterranean maquis and near the bay is very panoramic with amazing views from Punta Penna to Punta Campenella, with Capri and the Faraglioni in the background. The landscape is enriched by watchtowers from the Bourbon era, erected following the terrible invasion of the Turks in 1588. The pleasantness of these areas charmed many ancient races who believed the area was inhabited by mermaids: we are in fact where Ulysses heard the enchanting song, while crossing the sound between Punta Campanella and Capri, near the islands of Li Galli. Many others, on the contrary to Ulysses, were shipwrecked here. The sea bed of the Reserve in an archeological treasure full of amphorae, furnishings and wrecks from the Greek and Roman era and form an extraordinary underwater landscape alongside the colorful sea fans, red and yellow sponges, stone bass and schools of tuna and urchins. Diving enthusiasts must request a special pass for immersions from the Reserve offices, where you will also find authorized boats to enter the Punta Campanella natural marine reserve. A truly original excursion to take involves fishing tourism boats, real fishing vessels that invite tourists on board to share the experience of professional fishing and to discover an absolutely genuine world. Setting off at sunrise or sunset, a guided tour of the charming coastline, fishing and tasting the catch on board, which is prepared according to traditional recipes from the Sorrento peninsula: you will be overwhelmed!
Marina del Cantone is also in a privileged position if you want to quickly reach the most famous centers on both sides of the Sorrento Peninsula. The historic center of Massa Lubrense is 10 km away, while that of Sorrento is 16 km, with the splendid Positano and Amalfi 34 and 40 km respectively. Ercolano and Pompeii are 40 km away, for those of you interested in the excavations.
